Overview

Learn everything you need to know about systems administration and become an invaluable member of any organisation. Learn to implement technologies for systems and network services, manage a directory service, and master automated system and applications software deployment. You’ll also develop data storage solutions, write scripts to automate standard system procedures and administer infrastructure for remote network access. Plus, you’ll fine tune your communication, information design, personal and interpersonal skills.

Outcome

On successfully completing this programme, graduates will be able to:

• Implement a range of technologies for systems and network services
• Plan and implement automated system and application software deployment
• Plan, implement and manage a directory service
• Analyse a range of options and implement a solution
• Implement a server-based virtualisation infrastructure
• Administer infrastructure for remote network access
• Manage and administer a messaging and collaboration service
• Write scripts to automate standard system procedures
• Apply IT service and change management processes and procedures

Graduates will be able to demonstrate an understanding, knowledge and skills in computer systems, application and system software and networks support and configuration in the New Zealand IT environment.  Graduates will:

• Show the necessary knowledge and skills to develop basic computer applications and administer databases.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the current user support standards, professional, legal, and ethical principles and practices in New Zealand.

Academic qualification equivalents

• Have successfully completed an undergraduate degree or higher, or provided evidence of equivalent practical, professional or educational experience

English language requirements (one of the below):

• IELTS    :     overall band score of at least 6.0 (Academic), with no individual band less than 5.5
• PTE       :     have a Pearson Academic Test score of 50 and above with no individual band score less than 42

New Zealand Living Expenses

You'll require between $20,000 and $25,000 a year ($380–480 per week) for housing/rent, food, transportation, phone bills, internet usage, and entertainment, in addition to your tuition and insurance fees. The average living expense will be the same for everyone, regardless of their tuition or course price. Please keep in mind that these are only suggestions; the Immigration New Zealand requirement is $15,000 per year including return travel or an additional $2,000.
